What happens on Family Day at Fort Leonard Wood? ›

Family Day can vary between different companies and units but usually involves some display of what your trainees have learned over the last 10 weeks and an on-base pass. An off-base pass will be at the discretion of the command, but it tends to be uncommon.

Fort Leonard Wood is home of the U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence, where all Chemical, Engineer and Military Police Soldiers, plus many Marines, Airmen, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and international students from allied nations receive training.

Is there a limit on the number of people who can attend a family day or graduation ceremony? No there isn't a limit. Soldiers may have as many guests (family and friends) as they want attend these events. No tickets are needed.

Many prefer to dress less casually on graduation day, but that does not mean formal attire. Business casual is perfectly acceptable. Remember, you'll be sitting on the viewing stands, which are bleachers. You'll have to "climb" the bleachers, so mothers may prefer not to wear skirts, dresses or high-heeled shoes.

Can my Soldier go home with his family after graduation? Yes. Upon completion of the graduation ceremonies, your new Soldier receives a short period of leave. He is free to go home with you, unless follow-on training is scheduled.

Each trainee is allowed to bring up to 6 loved ones to graduation events. Children or those with military affiliation are not included in this number, so this should allow most of your future Airman or Guardian's loved ones to attend.

WHEN WILL I SEE MY RECRUIT AGAIN? Families can see your recruit at Marine recruit training during liberty on Family Day, the day before Graduation. You may not visit your recruit until Family Day, the day before Graduation.
